Still, just rinsing your grapes?
All in good faith I grew up with the knowledge to rinse my grapes before consuming under tap water. From there I was able to eat and enjoy a good healthy fruit or so I believed…
Can you trust that rinsing fruits underwater does anything to break down the set chemicals? Think about it, as we raise fruit for society within these large fields does it not rain? Would it be cost-effective to spray a chemical that when it rains will just wash away?
This is why just rinsing fruits with water will not be so effective as the chemicals sprayed are meant to “weather the storms”. I raise these questions to open your perspective of why we all truly need to take a moment and clean our fruits before consumption.
Best way to clean your fruits
Some use vinegar and while yes that is effective. My personal taste buds don’t like the smell or taste that comes with that method. Leaving me to not enjoy my fruits. Here is a simple effective method that can work on grapes strawberries and many other fruits!
Salt & Sugar
A simple method with simple ingredients. Two simple common household items that we are going to use today in order to clean our grapes and make fresher than ever!
1. Grab a plastic shopping bag
2. Place grapes in a bag
3. Place bag in a drainer (optional)
4. Add cold water and fill to just above grapes height
5. Add 2 Tablespoon of salt with 1 Tablespoon of sugar (for average size grape bag)
6. Close bag and shake around for 1-2 minutes.
7. Now open bag and you shall even see white residue removed from the grapes floating at the top of the water.
From here just remove the water and rinse the grapes one final time underwater and enjoy. Now you will see your fruit like never before. They will look so clean you may mistake it for the decor!
